Baseball Game Preview: Charlotte Christian Knights vs. Oak Grove Grizzlies

Charlotte Christian is a perfect 3-0 against Oak Grove since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Charlotte Christian Knights will host the Oak Grove Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. The last four games Charlotte Christian has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Charlotte Christian is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Charlotte Catholic just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 6-5. The loss put an end to the Knights' undefeated start to the season.

Grant Nicholson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Owen Farrell was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Drew Darling was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Oak Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 14-4 to Mount Tabor.

Kaden Hart made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Grayson Messer also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Oak Grove now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Charlotte Christian, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Charlotte Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Oak Grove in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. Does Charlotte Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oak Grove turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
