Baseball Recap: Pine Crest Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Pine Crest ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the West Boca Raton Bulls 5-4. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 6-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Brady Bushnell looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Cooper Obst was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Max McCawley also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Pine Crest and bumps their season record up to 5-1-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for West Boca Raton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Pine Crest will take on Archbishop McCarthy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pine Crest's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Archbishop McCarthy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Boca Raton, they will square off against Miami Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
