Riverheads is a perfect 3-0 against Sussex Central since December of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Gladiators will square off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Riverheads is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 42-6 victory over Brunswick. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Gladiators' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 271st).

Meanwhile, Sussex Central won against Surry County two weeks ago with 48 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Tigers didn't even let the Cougars on the board, marking the Tigers' second-straight 48-0 shutout. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Sussex Central's win came from a few key players Riverheads will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Adam Birchett, who rushed for 58 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 90 yards and one TD on only six passes. Malcolm Bivens also helped with two scores in total.

Sussex Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 277 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 217 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Riverheads' record now sits at 7-4. As for Sussex Central, their record is now 10-1.

Everything came up roses for Riverheads against Sussex Central in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, as the squad secured a 47-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gladiators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
