Preview: Haskell Indians vs. Seymour Panthers
The Haskell Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Seymour Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Haskell had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 34-33 win over Archer City. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Haskell was the better team in the second half.
Meanwhile, Seymour humbled Electra with a 44-6 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 25-0.
Brayden Loyd continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 438 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 76.3% of his passes. Loyd is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Layton Mcadams was in the mix as well, providing Seymour with two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Haskell to 3-4 and Seymour to 6-1.
Haskell ended up a good deal behind Seymour in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, losing 16-0. Can Haskell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
