Football Recap: Rutland Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Rutland extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-2. They took a 20-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Howard Huskies. Despite 88 more yards than the Huskies, the Hurricanes couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

When it comes to explaining why Rutland lost, don't look at Tyson White. Despite the final result, he rushed for 62 yards, and also threw for 95 yards and one touchdown.

As for Howard, the victory got them back to even at 1-1. The win continues a trend for them in their matchups with Rutland: they've now won six in a row.

Howard was led to victory by Julius Ramsey Jr and Joshua Ussery. Ramsey Jr rushed for 89 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, while Ussery rushed for 43 yards.

Coming up, Rutland will head out to take on Lamar County at 7:30 p.m. on September 5. As for Howard, they will welcome West Laurens at 7:30 p.m. on September 5. This will be the Huskies' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
