Basketball Game Preview: Gardner Wildcats vs. Narragansett Regional Warriors

The Gardner Wildcats will head out to challenge the Narragansett Regional Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Gardner comes in on seven and Narragansett Regional on nine.

Last Thursday, Gardner humbled Clinton with a 51-20 victory. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Narragansett Regional's strategy against University Park on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Narragansett Regional blew University Park out of the water with a 74-20 final score. That 54 point margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.

Narragansett Regional's win came from a few key players Gardner will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Amanda Iannacone, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Brooke Haddocks was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Narragansett Regional was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Narragansett Regional's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42.7 points. As for Gardner, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Gardner was able to grind out a solid victory over Narragansett Regional in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 54-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gardner since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
