Baseball Recap: Hobbs Extends Winning Streak to Three

Hobbs and Roswell pushed the score to 12-11 the last time they played Roswell, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Coyotes a 4-0 shutout. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three matches in a row.

Not much got past Chase Brister, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Roswell off the board. Brister has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cole Kesner, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Hobbs' success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 3-1 (and 4-13 when he doesn't).

Hobbs hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roswell struck out nine times.

Hobbs pushed their record up to 7-14 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Roswell, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Hobbs will have a chance to go back-to-back against Roswell: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
