Basketball Recap: Gila Ridge Takes a Loss

Gila Ridge won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were dealt a 74-12 defeat at the hands of the Pinnacle Pioneers. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Pioneers are ranked fourth).

Ella Gettings was Gila Ridge's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Gettings also led the team in rebounds with six.

Gila Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Pinnacle, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

Gila Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 72-41 defeat against Hamilton on the 16th. Pinnacle has also already played their next game, a 61-55 win against Desert Vista on the 16th.
