Softball Recap: Xavier Starts Season with Victory Against St. Mary Catholic

Xavier had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They won by a run and slipped past the St. Mary Catholic Zephyrs 9-8. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Zephyrs on Thursday, too.

Joy Krull was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Elianna Riehl was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Krull wasn't the only one making solid contact: Xavier kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Mary Catholic only managed seven hits.

St. Mary Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Xavier has already played their next game, a 7-5 win against Little Chute on the 4th. As for St. Mary Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 12-0 loss against Peshtigo on the 4th.
