Baseball Game Preview: Mount View Golden Knights vs. Bland County Bears

The Mount View Golden Knights will square off against the Bland County Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mount View has four straight victories, Bland County has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Mount View earned an 8-5 win over River View.

Kyrece Hughes was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Mount View: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4-1 otherwise. Jacob Clemins was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Bland County lost 20-11 to George Wythe on Tuesday. Even if the Bears couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Mount View pushed their record up to 9-5-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bland County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

Mount View might still be hurting after the 17-0 loss they got from Bland County when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Golden Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
