Baseball Recap: Niceville Finds Playoff Glory Versus Milton

It's playoff time, and Niceville had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Milton Panthers by a score of 7-3 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Brady Martin tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Remington Crum and Matthew Marcantonio did most of the damage at the plate: Crum got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Marcantonio went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. CJ Bolden was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Niceville pushed their record up to 24-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Milton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Niceville will have a chance to go back-to-back against Milton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
