Basketball Recap: Quitman Panthers vs. Forest Bearcats
The Quitman Panthers waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Forest by a score of 50-40. 50 seems to be a good number for Quitman as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Leading Quitman to victory were AUDRIANA HARRIS and KIARRA THOMPSON. HARRIS scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while THOMPSON scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. HARRIS is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of AALIYAH NIXON, who scored ten points.
Quitman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Forest, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.
Quitman will take on the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Forest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Panthers are ranked 17th). Forest will be staying on the road to face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Quitman focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
