Preview: Heights Bulldogs vs. Memorial Mustangs
The Heights Bulldogs will take on the Memorial Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Heights' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five contests.
Heights can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Chavez 59-0 at home. Given Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Chavez is ranked 1170th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Heights' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ezell Williams, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown, and Dylan Ray, who threw for 74 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Nick Brown was in the mix too, providing Heights with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Memorial came up short against Cy-Fair on Saturday and fell 27-17. Memorial has not had much luck with Cy-Fair recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
The losing side was boosted by William Van wie, who picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Memorial's defense sure didn't make it easy: Cy-Fair's QB was sacked four times before it was all said and done. Isaac Richardson was especially locked on to Cy-Fair's QB and sacked him twice.
Heights has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 7-3 record. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 54.67 points. As for Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Heights ended up a good deal behind Memorial in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, losing 21-6. Thankfully for Heights, Chase Goodwin (who threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
