Baseball Game Preview: Galt Warriors vs. Union Mine Diamondbacks

For the second straight game, Galt will face off against Union Mine. The Warriors will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Diamondbacks at 4:00 p.m. Galt's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five matchups, but Thursday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Galt's offense. They came up short against Union Mine on Tuesday, falling 7-0.

For Union Mine's part, Andrew Schurmann made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Schurmann has posted since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Matt Manfredi was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Austin Mastin was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

Union Mine is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Galt, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
