Softball Recap: Unioto Sets Scoring Season-High Against Huntington

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Unioto). They put the hurt on the Huntington Huntsmen with a sharp 21-3 win on Wednesday. The Shermans haven't had any issues with the Huntsmen recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Unioto let Peytan Robinson and Mackenzie Eisel run wild. Robinson got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Eisel went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Eisel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylee Hull, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Unioto was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Unioto's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Huntington, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Unioto will take on Paint Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Shermans are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Huntington, they will face off against Chesapeake at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.29 runs per game on average), something the Huntsmen will no doubt try to take advantage of.
