Baseball Game Preview: Lake Wales Highlanders vs. Mount Dora Hurricanes

For the second straight game, Lake Wales will face off against Mount Dora. The Highlanders are taking a road trip to face off against the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Lake Wales has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Lake Wales heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Monday. They fell just short of Mount Dora by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Highlanders have lost by just one run.

Max Seidl spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Lake Wales is 2-1 when Seidl posts eight or more strikeouts, but 10-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Lake Wales saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Byrd, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Mount Dora is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Lake Wales, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season.
