The Layton Lancers are taking a road trip to square off against the Davis Darts at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Layton is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
On Tuesday, Layton came up short against Syracuse and fell 3-1.
While Layton had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 24-26, 25-19, 25-20.

Despite the defeat, Layton had strong showings from Andy Page, who had eight digs and one assist, and Ben Peterson, who had 14 assists and eight digs. Peterson is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 14 or more in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Davis got the win against Fremont on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0. The Darts haven't had any issues with the Silverwolves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
While Davis won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-15, 29-27.
Davis' win came from a few key players Layton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brandon Sims, who had 14 digs and one assist. That's the most digs he has posted over his last eight games.
Layton's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Davis, their record now sits at 16-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Layton has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Davis struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Layton suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Davis in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
