Softball Game Preview: Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes vs. Benson Bobcats

The Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes will head out to face off against the Benson Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Arizona Lutheran Academy has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 8th.

Heritage Academy hit Arizona Lutheran Academy with a four-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Coyotes came up short against the Heroes, falling 11-1.

Arizona Lutheran Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Peltzer, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Benson came out on top against Bisbee on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Bobcats won by a run and slipped past the Pumas 7-6.

Claire Parke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Karris Taylor was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Webb, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Benson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 7-3 when they post 11 or more hits.

Benson's record now sits at 13-14. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Arizona Lutheran Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like Benson struggles in that department as they've averaged .492. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Arizona Lutheran Academy might still be hurting after the 16-1 loss they got from Benson when the teams last played back in May of 2021. Can the Coyotes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
