Recap: Elizabeth Minutemen vs. Westfield Blue Devils

The Elizabeth Minutemen were the 50-48 winner over the Westfield Blue Devils when they last played one another on January 4th, but their luck changed this time around. Elizabeth fell 49-38 to Westfield on Thursday. Elizabeth has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Elizabeth's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexandra Koon, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Koon has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alani Gordon, who scored ten points along with three steals.

Elizabeth has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season. As for Westfield, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-11.

Elizabeth will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Roselle Catholic at 11:30 a.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Roselle Catholic is ranked 85th, while Elizabeth is ranked 64th). As for Westfield, they will head out on the road to challenge Morristown at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
