After failing to score in their last matchup, East Gaston made sure to put some goals up on the board against Cherryville on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Ironmen a 9-0 shutout. East Gaston might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by five goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Cherryville from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Payton Lenox led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

East Gaston is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five matches. As for Cherryville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

East Gaston and Cherryville will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Warriors see the pitch they'll take on Burns at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Cherryville, their break will end when they face Highland Tech at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th.
