Oak Glen faced St. Marys in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Golden Bears were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Blue Devils. Considering the Golden Bears have won 16 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mattie Carney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Addie Smith and Mikalyn Balch did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Balch got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddie Murray, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Oak Glen has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-10 record this season. As for St. Marys, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins and brought them to 26-7.

Coming up, Oak Glen will face off against Petersburg at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. St. Marys does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
