Baseball Recap: Farmville Central Takes Down South Columbus in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Farmville Central had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the South Columbus Stallions a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Jaguars have posted since April 4th.

Not much got past Trey Williford, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep South Columbus off the board. Williford has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

The victory (which was Farmville Central's third in a row) raised their record to 13-8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for South Columbus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-6.
