Basketball Game Preview: Animo Robinson Monarchs vs. New Designs University Park Cardinals

Animo Robinson is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while New Designs University Park is on a nine-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Animo Robinson Monarchs will welcome the New Designs University Park Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Animo Robinson saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Reseda.

Meanwhile, couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 61-29 stomp they got against Valor Academy. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.

New Designs University Park's win came from a few key players Animo Robinson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Daviandre Davis, who posted 23 points along with eight steals and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of New Designs University Park's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Hambrick, who earned 14 points along with seven assists and five boards.

New Designs University Park's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Animo Robinson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Animo Robinson couldn't quite finish off New Designs University Park in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 48-45. Can Animo Robinson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
