Basketball Game Preview: Leake Academy Rebels vs. Pillow Academy Mustangs

Leake Academy and Pillow Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2022, but not for long. The Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Leake Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They breezed past Kirk Academy to the tune of 58-25. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won four in a row.

Leake Academy found their leader in sophomore Sarah Prince, who shot 50% from the field en route to 12 points and six steals. Those 50% shooting accuracy set a new season-high mark for Prince. Jenna Allen was another key player, going 5-for-12 to rack up 13 points.

Leake Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Pillow Academy blew past Starkville Academy, posting a 79-33 win.

Pillow Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Leake Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Leake Academy couldn't quite get it done against Pillow Academy when the teams last played back in February as they fell 46-37. Can the Rebels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
