Basketball Recap: North Stokes Takes a Loss

North Stokes lost against Starmount two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The North Stokes Vikings fell 60-48 to the Starmount Rams.

Starmount's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Molly Swaim, who went 7 for 14 en route to 26 points and five steals. Swaim is becoming a predictor of Starmount's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 12-2 (and 1-4 when she doesn't). Carley Money was another key player, going 8 of 16 on her way to 20 points along with five boards and three steals.

North Stokes has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season. As for Starmount, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season.

North Stokes and Starmount should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. North Stokes will square off against Alleghany at 6:30 p.m. on Friday up 210 places (205 vs. 415). Similarly, Starmount (ranked 142nd) will meet Mount Airy (ranked 315th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
