Basketball Game Preview: LEE Volunteers vs. Brandeis Broncos

The LEE Volunteers will face off against the Brandeis Broncos at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. LEE has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 22.

LEE is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Clark last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. LEE was dealt a 62-31 loss at the hands of Clark. While losing is never fun, the Volunteers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 749th, while the Cougars are ranked 86th).

Meanwhile, Brandeis came up short against Johnson last Friday and fell 63-54. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Finley Montoya and Daryl Banks. Banks had a great game and went 8 of 15 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds. Meanwhile, Montoya was balling out in the loss, going 9 of 16 en route to 22 points and five rebounds.

Brandeis' defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for LEE, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

LEE came up short against Brandeis in their previous meeting back in January, falling 65-55. Thankfully for LEE, Ashton Pena (who shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
