Genoa Area hasn't had much luck against Eastwood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Comets are taking a road trip to take on the Eagles at 4:45 p.m.
Genoa Area is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Lake.

Makayla Magrum

04/17/25 @ Otsego | 2 |
04/16/25 vs Maumee | 2 |
Makayla Magrum spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mya Colvin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emersen Bickel, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastwood). They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Fostoria on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Karly Wasserman, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Makayla Hady was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Eastwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Eastwood pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Genoa Area, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Genoa Area beat Eastwood 4-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
