Preview: San Angelo Central Bobcats vs. Permian Panthers

The San Angelo Central Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Permian Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Angelo Central is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 66-24, which was the final score in San Angelo Central's tilt against Midland Legacy on Friday. While losing is never fun, San Angelo Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 360th, while Midland Legacy is ranked 48th).

Christian English put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 266 yards and a touchdown, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. English is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last five games he's played.

Meanwhile, Permian pushed their score all the way to 44 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Frenship by a score of 46-44. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (32), Permian still had to take the loss.

Juzstyce Lara put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 218 yards. Lara was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards. Another player making a difference was Issac Herrera, who rushed for 83 yards.

The losses dropped San Angelo Central to 1-7 and Permian to 4-4.

San Angelo Central came up short against Permian in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 43-31. Thankfully for San Angelo Central, Rodney Hall Jr (who rushed for 109 yards on only 12 carries, and also threw for 117 yards and a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
