Baseball Game Preview: Roxbury Latin Foxes vs. Dexter Southfield

The Roxbury Latin Foxes will square off against Dexter Southfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Roxbury Latin earned a 4-1 victory over Portsmouth Abbey. The win continues a trend for the Foxes in their matchups with the Ravens: they've now won three in a row.

James Gibbons and Patrick Long dominated on the mound. Gibbons tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits, while Long tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Bryce Ketchen was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Dexter Southfield sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Phillips Exeter Academy on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Dexter Southfield.

Sachin Gopal made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Gopal was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Matthew Blanusa looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

The win got Roxbury Latin back to even at 1-1. Dexter Southfield has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record.
