Baseball Recap: Hopkins Academy's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Hopkins Academy dropped their record down to 8-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Ware Indians by a score of 3-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Hawks of the 4-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Ware, the win keeps they at an undefeated 10-0. Those three runs were actually the fewest they have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

For Ware's part, Nate Kaczuwka made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Kaczuwka was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other pitching news, Brady Guimond looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

Kaczuwka wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brody Koczur, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hopkins Academy will host Easthampton/Hampshire at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ware, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Turners Falls at 7:00 p.m.
