Softball Recap: Reed-Custer Comes Up Short

Reed-Custer extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 9-12 in the process. They came up short against the Coal City Coalers, falling 10-4. If the Comets were looking for revenge after losing 12-7 to the Coalers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Coal City, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Coalers, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Coal City's part, they got a massive performance out of Kaycee Graf, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Picard, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

While Reed-Custer had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
