For the first time this season, Noxubee County will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against Winona at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 858 yards in their previous games.
On Friday, Noxubee County needed a bit of extra time to put away Philadelphia. They came out on top against the Tornadoes by a score of 28-20. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Tornadoes: they've now won four in a row.
The critical scores for Noxubee County came from Jadien Taylor, Jykeim Goodwin, and Keon Mason.
Noxubee County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Noxubee County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Chadrick Skinner and Tyran Cotton. BJ Payton was another major factor on D, forcing two fumbles, making 12 total tackles (1.0 for loss), and defending two passes.
Meanwhile, Winona came up short against Aberdeen on Friday and fell 44-36.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Landon Crawford and Kobe Payne. Payne had a great game and threw for 139 yards and two TDs on only ten passes. Meanwhile, Crawford was balling out in the loss, throwing for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 100 yards on only nine carries.
Even if they lost, Winona's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Alejandro White and Jabari Jones, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece. Winona got some further help from White: he picked up 0.5 sacks and made 15 total tackles (3.5 for loss).
Winona dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Noxubee County, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Noxubee County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 222.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Winona struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 240.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Noxubee County came up short against Winona in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 34-27. Thankfully for Noxubee County, Chase Richardson (who rushed for 300 yards and four scores while picking up 10.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 139 yards on 11 of 21 attempts) won't be suiting up this time.
