Soccer Game Preview: Davis Sr. vs. Rocklin

The Davis Sr. Blue Devils will challenge the Rocklin Thunder at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Davis Sr.'s defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Oak Ridge out 1-0. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Trojans are ranked 356th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Davis Sr.'s one-goal win came courtesy of Cruz Gonzalez, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, Rocklin gave up the first goal last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged Granite Bay out 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Thunder sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Davis Sr. pushed their record up to 11-3-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four games. As for Rocklin, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-4-3 record this season.
