Baseball Game Preview: Patrick Henry Patriots vs. San Pasqual Golden Eagles

Patrick Henry and San Pasqual are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Patriots will be taking part in a tournament against the Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Patrick Henry 2.9, San Pasqual 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

If Patrick Henry beats San Pasqual with six runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Patriots walked away with a 6-1 victory over Bonita Vista on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Barons: they've now won six in a row.

Cody Cappelletti made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Preston Conklin, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Mestman, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for San Pasqual, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Mission Hills 2-1. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Golden Eagles have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Patrick Henry's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for San Pasqual, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
