Southwestern Heights hasn't had much luck against Lakin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Broncs at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Southwestern Heights has three straight victories, Lakin has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Southwestern Heights proved they can win big on Friday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Ulysses, sneaking past 4-2.
Julius Trejo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Trejo was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Friessen, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Lakin came up short against Holcomb on Thursday, falling 10-2.
Lakin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dru Patterson, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Southwestern Heights pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lakin, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southwestern Heights hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Lakin struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southwestern Heights might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Lakin in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
