Preview: Hubbard Eagles vs. Struthers Wildcats
Hubbard is 1-9 against Struthers since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Hubbard Eagles will be home for the holidays to greet the Struthers Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Hubbard is ranked 536th, while Struthers is ranked 554th).
Last Thursday, Hubbard was able to grind out a solid victory over McKinley, taking the game 54-41.
Hubbard got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cara Geen out in front who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Geen scored 15 or more points. Khamyah Howell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Struthers, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-40 loss to South Range on Thursday.
Hubbard's victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. As for Struthers, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4.
Hubbard was dealt a bruising 63-26 loss at the hands of Struthers in their previous meeting back in January. Thankfully for Hubbard, Chloe Neider (who scored 18 points along with six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
