Thomas Heyward Academy dropped down to 4-6 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Colleton Prep Academy War Hawks, falling 12-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the War Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-8 on March 6th.

As for Colleton Prep Academy, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-7. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Colleton Prep Academy's part, Kaiden Kinard made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Kinard a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Colleton Prep Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cale Owens, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Baines Pierce, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas Heyward Academy will square off against Cross at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Colleton Prep Academy, they will take on St. John's Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cavaliers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something the War Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
