Baseball Recap: ROWVA/Williamsfield Gets the Win

ROWVA/Williamsfield lost to Bureau Valley back in April of 2025, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Cougars walked away with a 5-0 win over the Storm. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Zander Vest made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

Vest wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Keagan Gerlach, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Austin Owens was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

ROWVA/Williamsfield's record now sits at 14-10. As for Bureau Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. ROWVA/Williamsfield will take on Alleman at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bureau Valley, they will challenge Annawan-Wethersfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
