Independence faced Rossview in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Hawks 3-1. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered an 8-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Independence is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Rossview, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 33-10-1.
