Football Recap: Trenton Mccadney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Joplin over Webb City

If Joplin was riding high fresh off their 49-8 takedown of Willard last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The matchup between the Eagles and the Webb City Cardinals didn't end well, with the Eagles falling 42-28. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trenton McCadney, who picked up 126 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 47 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Daniel Rose, who threw for 271 yards and three TDs.

Gabe Johnson produced another solid performance rushing for 195 yards and three scores while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 47 receiving yards for Webb City. Those 195 rushing yards gave Johnson a new career-high.

Joplin's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-5. As for Webb City, their record now sits at 6-3.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Joplin will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Kickapoo at 7:00 p.m. on November 7. As for Webb City, they will challenge Parkview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
