Preview: Calvert Cavaliers vs. Northern Patriots
Two dominant in Brooke Kidwell and Mikayla Jones are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Calvert Cavaliers will head out on the road to square off against the Northern Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Calvert is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Calvert's 18-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 32-25 to Chopticon on Monday.
Meanwhile, Northern also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Great Mills by a score of 56-43.
Northern's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Erin Murphy, who scored five points along with 12 rebounds and two steals, and Makayla Marvray who scored 16 points along with two steals. Murphy has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.
Calvert has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Northern, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Calvert suffered a grim 38-15 defeat to Northern in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Calvert avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
