Old Mill extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 3-17. They came up short against the North County Knights, falling 9-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 back in March.
Old Mill saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyna Winterling, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
As for North County, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The result was nothing new for North County, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
On North County's side, Alexis Garrison and Hailey Stitt were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Garrison didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Stitt pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garrison has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Garrison went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Stitt went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Reese Butler was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Chloe Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Old Mill has already played their next matchup (against Southern), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for North County, they will take on Severna Park at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 3.2, the Falcons 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
