Basketball Game Preview: Valentine vs. Chadron Cardinals

Valentine will take on the Chadron Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Valentine comes in on four and Chadron on three.

Valentine will bounce into Monday's match after beating Gordon-Rushville, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Valentine claimed a resounding 80-43 win over Gordon-Rushville. With Valentine ahead 38-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Valentine's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaac Cronin, who went 8-for-12 en route to 17 points along with eight boards and six blocks. With that strong performance, Cronin is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Dominic Beebout was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.

Valentine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Chadron escaped with a win on Friday against Lakota Tech by the margin of a single free throw, 60-59.

Chadron's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Valentine, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.

Everything went Valentine's way against Chadron in their previous meeting on February 8th, as Valentine made off with a 76-55 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valentine since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
