Softball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends South Iredell's Winning Streak

South Iredell dropped their record down to 13-11 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 5-2 to the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.

South Iredell saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carsyn Benfield, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Hickory Ridge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Hickory Ridge's side, Embler Kristyn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Katherine Rhyne, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Baker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

As of now, neither South Iredell nor Hickory Ridge have any future games scheduled.
