Basketball Recap: La Villa's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

La Villa had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the South Texas Christian Academy Panthers by a score of 59-52 on Tuesday.

Luis Saldana and Gabriel Armenta certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Saldana went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points and three steals, while Armenta posted 21 points. Saldana continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Santiago Moreno, who scored eight points.

La Villa's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9. As for South Texas Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Villa will head out to face off against Freer at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Freer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season. As for South Texas Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Juan Diego Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Texas Christian Academy is facing Juan Diego Academy at the right time seeing as Juan Diego Academy is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
