Basketball Recap: Plainfield South Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Plainfield South duked it out withPlainfield North on Thursday. The Plainfield South Cougars fell to the Plainfield North Tigers 57-51. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Tigers are ranked 83rd).

When it comes to explaining why Plainfield South lost, don't look at La'Niya Willis. Despite the final result, she went 8 of 13 en route to 19 points along with eight boards and five assists. Willis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played. Tierra Abner was another key player, going 6 for 12 on her way to 18 points.

Plainfield South now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Plainfield North, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.

Plainfield South will be playing in front of their home fans against DeKalb at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Plainfield South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. As for Plainfield North, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-26 win against Bartlett on the 11th.
