Lee Smedstad was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Delanie Gilda, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Smedstad wasn't the only one making solid contact: Holy Names Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, West Seattle came up short against Seattle Prep on Thursday and fell 9-4.
West Seattle saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marina Strange, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
West Seattle has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Holy Names Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Holy Names Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like West Seattle struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
