Baseball Recap: Samuel Fels Takes a Loss

Samuel Fels extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Frankford Pioneers, falling 12-2. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 16-1 to the Pioneers when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Samuel Fels saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lian Infante Toribio, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Frankford, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

On Frankford's side, Reynaldo De Los Santos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave De Los Santos a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonathan Collazo, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Felipe Hernandez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Samuel Fels will square off against rival Carver High School of Engineering & Science at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Frankford is set to face off against their familiar foe Abraham Lincoln at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
