Preview: Hanover Central Wildcats vs. Bremen Lions
The Hanover Central Wildcats and the Bremen Lions will face off at 4:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hanover Central comes in on three and Bremen on six.
With a playoff game on the line, Hanover Central rose to the challenge on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Trojans 36-33.
Hanover Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sienna Stilley led the charge by scoring 13 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bridget Noel, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Bremen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-53 win over Tippecanoe Valley on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given Bremen's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Tippecanoe Valley is ranked 50th).
Bremen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kila Foster, who scored 23 points along with four steals. Eliana Grubbs was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Hanover Central has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Bremen, their victory bumped their record up to 14-11.
