Midland Trail dropped their record down to 10-10 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Liberty Raiders by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Patriots have suffered since March 22nd.

As for Liberty, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Liberty's part, Maddie Cox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. Cox has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Liberty saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was McKinlea Hill, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midland Trail will head out to face off against Nitro at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Liberty, they will venture away from home to take on Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
